Yep, time for the lame blog post about what I received for my birthday and Christmas. "Lame" because it’s kind of a blogging cliché, and mostly it feels like bragging. But something is better than nothing—especially around this blog lately.
Let’s see…
- Birthday and Christmas money and a gift certificate
- Christmas ornaments
- Anathem by Neal Stephenson
- Just After Sunset by Stephen King
- A couple of PS2 games
- A growler of Rogue Dead Guy Ale
- A beer of the month club subscription (3 months worth)
- A nifty sampler-sized English-style pint glass
- A custom-embroidered handkerchief
- An Acer Aspire One netbook computer
- The Dark Knight on Blu-Ray
- Handmade gifts from the kids
- A Food Saver vacuum sealer (more of a household gift)
I think that about covers it.
Don’t forget the flowers I tried to send that the flower shop totally screwed up and sent you Christmas style flowers instead of Birthday.
You should describe those ornaments instead of just saying "ornaments"
I got an Aspire One netbook as well, and I love it. I can’t believe it does everything my laptop does except play CD/DVDs, and I can get around that by putting disk images on it and simulating the disk with Daemon Tools. I can even play videos fullscreen. And the screen is so bright and sharp!
I put a Bluetooth dongle on it and that worked too.
Do you have AA1FanControl on yours?
Other utilities I find really handy are UltraVNC so I can control it from my laptop, and Synergy so I can control it with the mouse and keyboard of my laptop.
The Acer is pretty sweet, so far… I’m also amazed at the full-functionality of it. I don’t know about AA1FanControl, so I’ll tentatively say "no". 🙂
I love it too! I think I’m using it more than him, but then again, he’s playing his games on the other puter
