Friday, after much hand-wringing and debating and questioning sanity (almost entirely by my wife), we adopted a new kitten from the Humane Society.
He’s about seven weeks old and has that full-on kitten rambunctious flexibility that all the good kittens possess. Kittens like that are like crack for some people.
Thankfully the first night was the only night (for me) that messed up my sleep… seems like the last cat we got kept me up a lot more at first. I’m not complaining!
So far, the other two cats are still unsure of what to make of the interloper. I’m sure that will pass and they’ll start kicking his ass any day now.
And now, of course, the obligatory kitten pictures.
I haven’t decided yet if that black on the nose qualifies this cat to look like Hitler…
The best thing for me was to go to the humane society and sit with the kitties 2 days after Louie was gone…I picked up the kitties and knew it wasn’t right, but it was uplifting for me to go.
Spur of the moment last thurs, I go with B. and it was easier to pick up the kitties, knowing someday that we’d get another. Then, I read the foster bio on Dusty…found in a landfill in a box, abandoned. So, I went back in to see him and it seemed ok.
Who knows if it’s the right time or the right kitty (I said that on Friday), but it’s really nice to have a new, POSITIVE energy in the house after our horrible end of summer.
It’s nice to hear (albeit annoying at times) B. squeal with laughter when the kitty does something funny. When he fell off the bed backwards, I’m sure it knocked the wind out of him. Zoey is warming up to him, in a way, and she needs someone to cuddle…they were almost there yesterday afternoon.
Oh, and…..the fact that the foster kids were able to wrap him up in a blanket and hold him like a baby was a factor too….and he liked their dog. We need him to fit into our crazy household of kids and pets
He’s so cute!!! I want another kitten so much, but I haven’t been able to convince R yet. I think he’s trying to have me banned from the Humane Society, because I always want to go snuggle the kittens.
He looks like Zach, our cat that meows all the time like a crotchety old man.
Cutecutecute! That is so wonderful that you adopted a homeless kitty!
Very cute…
We rescued our dog froma shelter almost two years ago… one of the best things we ever did!!
What’s the cat’s name?
We’ve settled on "Dusty", though "Checkers", "Domino" and "Oreo" were all in the running.
